Fluency Live Classes

ASL FLUENCY

Build Confidence. Sign with Fluency.

The ASL Fluency Class is an optional add-on designed to complement ASL 1, 2, or 3. While the core courses provide the foundation for learning American Sign Language, the Fluency Class focuses on application, helping students strengthen their skills through meaningful practice and interaction. Through live workshops, conversation practice, and exclusive enrichment content, students gain additional opportunities to expand their vocabulary, improve comprehension, and develop greater confidence communicating in ASL.

What Is Included?

18 Live Zoom Workshops

Throughout the school year, students will participate in 18 live online workshops designed to build vocabulary, strengthen receptive and expressive skills, and increase confidence using ASL. Workshops include a variety of engaging topics and are designed to help students experience ASL in new and meaningful ways while expanding upon concepts learned in their core coursework.

Twice-Monthly Conversation Practice
Students may sign up twice each month for a 15-minute live conversation session with an ASL tutor. Sessions are limited to just two students per tutor, providing ample opportunities for participation and individualized attention.

Exclusive Video Library
Gain access to additional videos created exclusively for Fluency students, including vocabulary expansion, song translations, Deaf community interviews, and other enrichment content released throughout the year.

Learn Through Live Interaction

Research consistently shows that language acquisition is strengthened through meaningful interaction and regular exposure. While lessons and independent study provide an important foundation, students develop greater confidence and fluency when they have opportunities to actively engage with the language.

The Fluency Class is designed to support that growth by giving students additional opportunities to see, understand, and communicate in ASL beyond their core coursework. Through ongoing exposure and guided practice, students can reinforce what they have learned, deepen their comprehension, and continue progressing toward greater fluency.

Why Fluency Matters

ASL fluency can open doors far beyond the classroom. Strong communication skills in American Sign Language can strengthen a student’s resume, support future career opportunities, and provide a valuable skill for work in education, healthcare, ministry, interpreting, childcare, customer service, and community-based roles.

Even for students who do not pursue ASL professionally, fluency builds confidence, expands cultural understanding, and equips them to communicate with a broader community in a meaningful way.
